Seasonal River Chemistry and Lithium Isotopes in the Min Jiang at Eastern Tibetan Plateau: Roles of Silicate Weathering and Hydrology

Riverine lithium (Li) isotopes have been considered as a robust tracer for silicate weathering, but processes controlling riverine δ 7 Li ratios remain controversial. To address the impacts of weathering and hydrology on Li, seasonal variation water chemistry in Min Jiang at eastern Tibetan Plateau was investigated over December 2009 to end 2010. The results showed distinct variations ionic Li. Increased river discharge monsoon season diluted dissolved ions, monsoonal hydrological changes caused frequent fluctuations. High by rainfall reduced isotope fractionation shortened rock–fluid interaction time, resulting lower whereas input high groundwater landslide seepage elevated together with lengthened time less rain intervals. Based high-resolution sampling strategy dataset one year, this study highlights that conditions can significant impact sources, therefore variation.
